Mida's wedding

So one of the Korean teacher's at our school was getting married last weekend (Oct18) and everyone from school was invited. Justine and I were a little too excited since we got to get dressed up and wear our Sex and the City outfits again ahah. So everybody met at the school and then we took the YELLOW Michigan bus to the wedding, classy I know. The wedding was at the biggest Anglican church in Seoul. So we got there and then we're told by the other teachers that we got to go see her before the wedding. I figured this was just to say Hi and good luck or whatever, but we took pictures with her too! She was in this room with a professional photog and we got a bunch of pictures with her. Then we went into the church and waited for the ceremony to start. THEN, she walks into the church and just sits down at the pews in the back and the photogs keep taking her picture, a little strange I thought since people don't usually see the bride before the wedding. and then she was standing at the back for a while just waiting for it all to start. There is also a lot of clapping involved in Korean wedding. You clap basically for the first 10 minutes of the ceremony, as the groom walks up, as the bride walks up...The guy she married was also in the army so a bunch of his army friends decided to get together in the middle of the ceremony and sing to them. Slightly off key but it was really funny (i recorded it). Then this other guy sang too. Very different from Canadian weddings. So then after the ceremony we took pictures outside and then we thought we were all going for lunch since they don't really have receptions or parties after weddings here. But instead, we went downstairs in the church and there's a buffet set up with food and tables so you just grab some food and eat. There was a little stage at the front with the wedding cake and the bride and groom were up there for about 10 minutes taking pictures with it and popping champagne. Then they disappeared. Seriously. No cutting of the cake or anything, and people didn't even really pay attention to them up there. It was more for the pictures I think. So then we just got food and ate with everyone else. Oh and her dad kept coming around and saying 'thankyousomuch' and 'haveanicetime' ahah soo funny. A very 'unique' Korean he was. He basically looked like the Korean James Brown (his hair was like reddish and it looked like he was wearing a wig) soo funny! A pretty interesting experience let me tell you. Her dress was gorgeous though. And Oh my god, I wish you could have seen her shoes. They were insane. Like so so so HIGH. Probably about as tall as a small dog.
Super fun though, pictures to come.
